Don't panic about Brexit

Don't panic about Brexit, whatever the outcome, let us help you get organised and prepared. It is highly likely that customs clearance will be needed for all export/import shipments we have put together a checklist below to help you get ready.

Exports

You will need to provide the followingfor all shipment:

  • EORI Number
  • Goods description
  • Weight
  • Value and currency
  • Country of origin
  • Commodity codes

If you do not have an EORI number you need to act quickly to obtain one. It only takes a few days to get one once you have completed the application on line https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/shortforms/form/EORIVAT

If you do not know your commodity codes then you can look them up on the government website https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff

Imports

You will need to provide the following

EORI Number

Deferment account number (if you have one you will have to authorise Eurofracht to use it on your behalf)

Commodity code: This will denote the correct Vat and/or duty to be applied to your shipment

NO Deferment account? Don’t worry, we can arrange for the VAT/Duty to be paid on your behalf, or if you prefer the VAT / Duty can be paid direct to customs via their FAS system.

Obviously there will be additional charges incurred with all the documentation and clearance charges need, this will be confirmed by the port agent once a Brexit deal is agreed.

Eurofracht are ready and have agents at the relevant borders in the Uk to be able to process the correct documentation on any exports and imports. We will be here to take away the stress and worry.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will hopefully be able to put your minds at ease.
